Wine-o Blog

It's Sunday evening and I just got back from purchasing my rehearsal dinner outfit, and I finally have a chance to sit down, relax in my sweatpants, and have a well-deserved glass of wine. (I'm also watching Newlyweds, WHAT a surprise!)

We got up to Fairfax on Friday evening per usual (Mom will probably start charging rent!), had a well cooked meal and woke up the next morning for a LONG and busy day. We had our first of three counseling sessions with the pastor on Saturday morning. I was nervous at first, but he made the atmosphere very comfortable, layed-back and fun. Normally I've been the person that always nay-sayed counseling in general; why do I need to talk to some stranger, they don't know me, they don't know what I've been through!? Well, I have now become a FIRM advocate of counseling. It was really fun to be with Patrick, to share our experiences with eachother. The main topic of Saturday's counseling was Active Listening and Assertiveness in conversation. Saying things like "Would you please do this" rather than "Get off your lazy ass and do this!". We both talked about our relationship strengths and what we need to work on. We set goals, we have homework, and we also made a wish list practicing our active listening. A lot of it seemed hoaky, which is what the pastor warned, but it actually worked and seemed worth while. Counseling was fun!

We also printed our menu cards, favor cards, and programs. Boy, what an ordeal. We took it to Kinko's, and it took them three tries to get it right. It was stressful, but in the end, they took off $100! I'll be stressed for a day if I can get a discount that big!

We finalized our numbers for the wedding/reception, started our menu cards, started setting up our center pieces, got a lot of gifts from mom, and just had a nice time. We have to get THE day schedule made, more counseling with the pastor, and other small things. Oy, we'll make it, though!

Well, I've completed my glass of wine, and dinner is ready! I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and I pray that it goes by QUICKLY! Only 13 more days until the wedding! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
