A Couple Suggestions

The Express...

...is another fantastic movie that my husband and I just finished watching. Now, I'm a big time Rudy fan and I wasn't sure what to expect...this was probably just going to be another cheesy football movie that's trying to be like Rudy. No way, this is a great story.

If you haven't heard of Ernie Davis as the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy, you need to get to know it. He was an all-star college player who was ready to play in the NFL, but life and health got in the way. The movie is made extremely well and the story will tug at your heart strings. I strongly suggest you see it!

The movie also really stresses the struggles of integration back in the 50's and 60's, which immediately reminded me of a wonderful book written by Melba Beals. She was one of the first African American students to be integrated into Little Rock's Central High School. It goes through her and her friends struggles and triumphs during that time. A great read.

I don't know about you, fellow bloggers but I'm ready for the weekend!! G'night!

NEW!
Just found a leak of Colbie Caillat's new album: "Breakthrough" here. Love her!

If you liked that book, you should try Coming of Age in Mississippi. Good book about the civil rights movement as told by someone who lived it. - Elysia

Thanks, Elysia, I'll keep that one in mind!
