So if you haven't heard or read about the new guy in Purple and Gold Town, I thought I'd bring you up to speed. Dr. John Franklin, a Florida native, has taken over the Marching Pirates Director position. He seems to have a great amount of qualifications, and has really been all over the country doin' his thing.
Things on your resume speak loudly, that's for sure, and his resume looks great. But, it's always nice to hear what the guy has to say and what he sounds like. There's just something about a voice that can make or break your first impression, ya know? Well, if you click here, you can hear an interview with Dr. Franklin on Pirate Radio. Check him out.
I especially liked the fact that he knows there are traditions at ECU that you just don't change. "If it aint broke, don't fix it", he said. So far so good :) I look forward to going to a game this October! Go Pirates!
For those readers who don't know me as well, the reason I'm so intrigued as to who the new director is, is because I was a part of the Marching Pirates. Three years in college I was one of the conductors and it was simply one of the best times I've ever had.
Checking out the schedule for ECU and seeing: move into residence halls really made me miss college. What an experience. Can't we all just stay there?

I've been watching Season 2 of "Felicity" which of course takes place during her college years. DEFINITELY missing college right now. There was a party scene that was just eerily similar to so many that I went to. Sad..
i saw that on the website, too. i was checking out the schedule to see if there was an alumni dinner planned, and then read in the East magazine that CK had taken the director position at University of Arkansas. can't believe he won't be there this year, but it'll be cool to see what the new guy does :)
