The Good Ole' Fashioned Dining Room

Whatever happened to the good old fashioned Dining Room, folks? As my husband and I start looking at houses and what our options are, a lot of these newer houses are lacking in the Dining Room space. It makes me upset, gosh darnet! I've always grown up with a special dining area that was beautiful, always clean, and we ate in there for special occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and big birthdays. Why not!?

Whatever happened to that special place not only for eating, but for guests in your house to "ooh" and "aah" about? I always thought it was another focal point of the home for decoration and family together time.

Is it too much to ask these days to have a formal dining room!? What do you think? Do you have one? Do you use it? Do you find them pointless? What's your take on the matter.

But, either way, to get you BACK in the mood for some wicked awesome dining space, check out these examples...aren't they gorgeous!?

I love the detail in the chairs...
...that chandalier rules...and uh...a fireplace...ROCK.
The high ceilings are my favorite in this photo...
...a little too much blue for me, but still very fancy.
And finally, simple and elegant. I like!
And what about a hutch!? Are these considered antique now? I was blessed to have worked with a woman who's elderly mother was trying to get rid of hers, so she GAVE hers to me. I was extremely lucky. This hutch is ok...
...but this is more my taste. And yes, we have our china and other glass ornaments on display for guests to see.
About two years ago, the hubby and I re-upholstered the chairs to a more elegant fabric. They were horrid before, to say the least!
Now remember, I'm in an apartment, so space is limited, but this is our tiny dining room. I can't wait to be in a single family home and have a full on ROOM with this furniture! :)
What's your dining room like?

And finally...great news, Kris Allen came out with his first single from his new album. Check it out. It's definitely not the style I expected from him...what do you think?

You can read about what he thinks of his new single here.

I'm off to enjoy chicken and pasta, folks! If you want some fantastic menu ideas for a week's worth of family dinners, read Two Hearts Together!

Later!

I miss the dining room. And I was very disappointed to find that most homes don't have them anymore. Our house doesn't have one and it was a bit of a let down. However, due to the way the home has opened up, there are a lot of new ways that can be explored to show your style and class. So 6 one way, half a dozen the other. What to do what to do....

We just bought our house almost two years ago and I couldn't believe all of the new homes with out the dinning room. We ended up getting a house with out one because I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal to live with out it, but I so wish I would have found a house with one! Next house will for sure have one!

I love the chairs in the first, and I do love the blue! I wouldn't buy a house without a dining room! How do you celebrate Christmas and Thanksgiving without a dining room? How do you host Mother of the Groom Luncheons, birthday luncheons, Friday Night Dinner Nights with your friends?
