These days it's the insurance companies that are running the show, and the direction we are headed in for that is a WHOLE OTHER discussion. I don't think I have the energy to really dive into that dilemma!
But, since college (five years ago) I have re-located closer to my family, but still in a new location in the state. But, for the first two years of my career, I was still going to my original doctors from where I grew up. It was QUITE the treck. See, I'm the kind of gal where if I find a doctor that I respect, and feel comfortable with, I will not leave.
So, it took a lot of coaxing for me to find doctors near me, and folks, I'm glad I did. So far, I have two doctors that I am extremely grateful for. They seem joyful, they are caring and kind, and they take care of you during your appointment.
It's so important to keep up with your appointments, folks! Stay healthy and take care of yourself. Doctors and hospitals can be terrifying, but make yourself do it! You'll thank yourself later in life.
And what's up with the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force telling women now that they don't need a breast exam until the age of 50 and frankly aren't saying that self-breast exams are necessary. WHAT!?!?!? My doctor today thought it was crazy and that men and health insurances came up with this idea. I concur. Read here if you want to know more on the situation. What are YOUR thoughts on this matter!?
I would love to hear from my female readers! Happy Wednesday, people! :)

I still haven't gotten a new doctor. I didn't get one in PA, and I haven't gotten one in TX. I, too, am reluctant to leave my beloved Physician's Assistant. I have a good relationship with her and trust her. She has always been caring and proactive. And yes, the healthcare debate is HUGE and IMHO somethings do need to change, but this current bill is not the answer. Thinking about it makes blood shoot out of my eyes..
geez -- just spent the last 8 days blogging about all my surgeries since '84 -- don't want to think about doctors right now again! Had to get a H1N1 yesterday but it wasn't so bad...
I heard something about that breast exam stuff on the news, and it didn't make any sense to me. Weird!

I, too, was appalled at the new recommendations!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

I definitely agree that it is all part of the government plan to socialized all medicine. They want to start changing the guidelines so they don't have to pay for things so often.
They are now also saying you only need pap smears every three years. Just all part of their plan to destroy individual care and make it standard for everyone.
Stopping by from SITS
