The Yorktown Trails

This past weekend we made it a Grandma/Grandpa visit down in Yorktown, Va.  It was great fun to spend time with other adults, and adults that would help with the kids!  Preston absolutely adores his grandparents and especially loves playing and learning from his Grandpa.

Since we are in our last week of summer we got there on a weekday which meant that the grandparents still had to work during the day.  We needed to occupy our time with fun things to do as a family instead of just sitting around in the house.

The weather was beautiful this past weekend with very low humidity.  We found a wonderful park in Yorktown that had great playgrounds for Preston to hang out on and also trails to hike.  Might I add, when we were first time parents with Preston we never did things like this because we were too scared...little miss Lyla is getting quite the adventure at a very young age!

Preston was super stoked about the trail!

Can you tell?

The scenery was beautiful...can you spot the bird?

Can you spot it again?  Gorgeous.

About halfway through our almost four mile trek, we found a family of deer.  They didn't pay any mind to us, but we surely loved watching them.

The views were great, there was little humidity and we were in the shade most of the time.  We hiked for a good two hours :)

No, Preston did not make it the whole way, he was definitely riding on Daddy's shoulders for a while.

Now that I've got my post-baby body and just gave birth to my last baby...it's time for me to do some activities that get me moving!

And as long as we get this family moving, the kiddos sleep like angels.  Success!

Happy trails!
